Regent Inaugurates Archipelago Village on Untung Jawa Island

Seribu Islands Regent, Junaedi attended the inauguration of Kampung Bahari Nusantara (KBN) or archipelago village initiated by the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) on Untung Jawa Island, South Seribu Islands, Monday (5/15).

It was attended by Vice President, Ma'ruf Amin and Navy Staff (KASAL) Admiral TNI, Muhammad Ali who made the official inauguration.

The Regent welcomed and appreciated the visit of the Vice President and KASAL who placed Untung Jawa Island as the location for the inauguration ceremony of 68 archipelago villages throughout Indonesia.

This synergy with the Indonesian Navy is expected to have a positive impact on improving people's welfare in the fields of health, education, tourism, economy, and defence.

"With the cooperation of all, human and infrastructure development can be realized. I'm sure and believe that the progress of the five sectors on this island can be further increased," he expressed, Monday (5/15).

In his working visit, the Vice President visited several clusters on Untung Jawa Island. Among them were education at RPTRAs, health at health centers, and economics at MSMEs. There was also the handing over of some assistance in the form of open books and laptops to local children.

"After the inauguration, we and locals will continue to take good care of KBN, thus it can become a promotional event for tourists," he explained.

In his speech, Vice President, Ma'ruf Amin uttered that the KBN program is a concrete form of the presence of the TNI AL with the people, to build resilience in the maritime area from the village level to the national defense buffer.

The program was deemed in accordance with the new rural paradigm that is developing globally. Based on data, 45 percent of the global population lives in rural developing countries.

"Rural development is a necessity to achieve sustainable development targets. The development paradigm in the village was changed from subsidies to investments in the future," he added.

As for the information, there are five clusters in KBN program which consist of defense cluster, economic cluster, education or education cluster, health cluster, and tourism cluster.
